We are recruiting for a Director to lead the NA sensory team and champion its transformation into a differentiating and strategic partner to the business and its customers.

This role reports to Vice President of Taste RD&A and works closely with the Global Head of Sensory Science.

Responsibilities:

The Sensory Director will apply broad and in depth sensory and leadership knowledge to drive the North America sensory program, define and execute the sensory science strategy, and be a member of the North America Technical Leadership team. In this role, you will lead strategic sensory projects delivering great tasting and nutritious products to Kerry’s

customers. You will also develop and maintain best in class capabilities for the North America sensory team.

  • Builds and leads a high performing team of sensory scientists and technicians: hire, onboard and retain an outstanding, passionate, and diverse team.
  • Provides technical expertise and applies sound, scientific practices and techniques to all phases of sensory and consumer testing in order to deliver robust sensory data, enabling better business decisions and project success.
  • Influences project teams to embrace efficient and effective sensory and consumer product testing methods and enhance chances of success.
  • Collaborates with Technical and Business teams to ensure the sensory groups focus on strategic projects in line with business priorities.
  • Acts as a strategic partner, working cross functionally across the company to help develop products, ideas, solutions grounded in customer and business needs, within resource allocation/timelines.
  • Champions the Kerry Evaluation Culture using the proprietary and differentiating Sensory tools that Kerry has created; encourages including consumers early and throughout the development cycle and the use of Designed of Experiments to speed up projects.
  • Contributes to functional basic research projects including methodology development, training initiatives, alternative and creative ways to present statistical data, both Innovation and Strategic Growth projects, etc.
  • Stay current on applicable new methodology, technology, and industry trends and implement new methods, statistical procedures, etc. into program.


Requirements

Qualifications:

Education & Experience: MSc in Sensory Science, Experimental Psychology, Behavioral Science, Marketing science or related field with at least 15 years CPG/flavor experience; or PhD with 10 years CPG/flavor industry experience.

  • Expert knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods
  • Strong knowledge in Food Chemistry/Biochemistry/Sensometrics desired.
  • Experience in applying rapid methods and agile principles to enable rapid prototyping
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead, manage, coach and help developing five or more direct reports
  • Proven leadership experience, passionate about creating a successful inclusive team environment.
  • Excellent analytical and decision-making skills, combined with the ability to think strategically and drive projects from development to completion.
  • Ability to recognize, disseminate, and reconcile information into insights and trends that advance Kerry’s ability to better respond to customers’ future needs.
  • Established capability in managing stakeholders across a complex matrix through use of strong interpersonal, influencing, and communication skills.
  • Experience in partnering and collaborating with customers to deliver suitable solutions driven by sensory and consumer insights.
